The systematic monitoring of the competitiveness of the economy of Cyprus is an important tool in the effort to improve the business and investment environment and a priority for the Government. To this end, a number of internationally recognized indicators, for evaluating the performance of the Cypriot economy, will be monitored. These indicators will include international competitiveness indicators, which compare and rank states according to their performance on a number of parameters. These international indicators are a useful tool in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of a country relative to its competitors and the areas in which corrective measures should be promoted in order to improve competitiveness. They also constitute an important parameter in the evaluation of countries by potential investors.
