Entrepreneurship and Investment

The proposed legal framework aims to speed up and simplify the licensing process for strategic investment. For the preparation of the legislation and the establishment of a fast track mechanism for strategic investments, the Cypriot authorities have requested support from external experts via the European Commission Support Group for Cyprus.

At a first stage, the external experts will prepare a study which will review the existing legal and procedural framework for undertaking strategic investment in Cyprus, identify weaknesses and insufficiencies and make recommendations for improvements. The study will propose the main elements that should be included in the new legal framework. At the second stage the experts will draft the legal framework (Law and secondary legislation if considered necessary).
